The SDCHM permanent collection consists of artifacts that represent Chinese history, art, and culture, and which also tell the stories of Chinese American experiences. We exhibit changing selections of fine art, folk art, decorative arts, clothing, household and commercial goods, archeological finds, and mementos of the Chinese community of San Diego.
The SDCHM does not provide artifact appraisal services. You may find a professional appraiser through the American Society of Appraisers.
If you are interested to propose an object for accession to the museum's permanent collection, you may share information for review by our Collections Committee via the following form: https://forms.gle/zk1KYF9YqenkPYWE8.
We are pleased to announce a Community Research Access (CRA) program at the SDCHM, made possible by support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services through its Inspire! Grants for Small Museums. Through this program, on a once-a-month basis, community members may access specific collection items through a staff-supervised appointment at the museum.
Start your journey by reviewing data about the SDCHM collection available here.
We'll announce dates for available appointments soon.
