Every first Sunday of the month, we hold a walking tour of San Diego's Asian Pacific Historic District, led by an SDCHM docent.
Stop by the 404 Third Avenue to be admitted to the museum free of charge on the Second Sunday of each month! Check out our permanent exhibition in the Mission building; you'll also have the chance to view The Art of Chunming Yu and Lan Wang at the Extension on 01/12.
Get ready for an epic food crawl with the SDCHM Young Professionals Advisory Committee in the Convoy District! This is your chance to dive into the incredible flavors of San Diego’s Asian Pacific food scene, hang out with fellow foodies, and learn the history behind some of the best spots in the area.
Thank you to all of the community members who were able to join us for the reception and membership meeting on 12/15!
Following a reception in the garden, we gave a presentation of museum activities during 2024 in our Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Extension.
This exhibition features paintings and prints by two contemporary Chinese artists: Yu Chunming 余春明 (b. 1955) and Lan Wang (王藍, 1922–2003). It will be on display until March 2, 2025
The San Diego Chinese Historical Museum is deeply committed to its mission: "To educate and inspire by preserving and celebrating the richness of Chinese history, art, and culture." Despite our unwavering dedication, we are facing financial constraints that impact our capacity to hire and support the dedicated staff necessary to bring our educational programs to life. We are seeking financial sponsorships to raise a minimum of $10,000 that will directly support our education programming. Your contribution will have a profound impact on our museum and the community at large.
The SDCHM has stood as a testament to our shared history, culture, and heritage for decades. However, time has taken its toll, and our cherished museum, last renovated in 1995 (almost 30 years ago!), is in dire need of repairs and enhancements to ensure it remains functional. To continue serving as a beacon of knowledge and a source of inspiration for generations to come, we need your support. Our goal is to raise a minimum of $10,000 to help breathe new life into this iconic structure and provide a welcoming and engaging environment for all who visit. Your support will help us make necessary repairs to the historic Mission building, address plumbing issues, and update aging systems to ensure the safety and integrity of the structure.
